CQC Registration Support for Dental Practices

Opening a dental practice in England involves more than completing a CQC application form. Your regulated activities, legal entity, Statement of Purpose, supporting documents, premises, equipment and leadership arrangements must all be accurate and consistent with the dental service you intend to provide.
I provide specialist CQC registration support for new dental providers, combining more than 12 years of CQC inspection experience with a degree in dentistry, GDC registration as a dental nurse and previous dental practice management experience.
Client Testimonial
“Liam successfully implemented a new infection control system at a practice I was based at, and has also project managed many other aspects too. He has demonstrated excellent knowledge, giving advice in a friendly and non judgemental manner. Having worked in the CQC for many years and being a qualified dentist himself, I don’t think there are any aspects of a dentistry inspection, or compliance issues, that Liam will not be able to handle! Thanks for your help and support.”

What Does CQC Require From a New Dental Provider?
CQC assesses whether the proposed provider, Registered Manager, premises and service are ready to deliver regulated care safely and in accordance with the fundamental standards.
The documents and information required will depend on your legal entity, regulated activities, location, management structure and the dental services you intend to provide. Applications must accurately describe how the service will operate in practice. Generic documents that do not reflect the proposed dental service may result in questions, delays or rejection of an incomplete application.
All oral health providers must also complete CQC’s additional form for oral health services.
Dental Documents CQC Requires
Documents CQC May Request
In addition to the documents required from all new providers, CQC’s current oral health guidance states that dental providers must submit:
• Critical examination and acceptance test reports
• Fire risk assessment
• Evidence of Health and Safety Executive registration under the Ionising Radiations Regulations
• Health and safety risk assessment
• Legionella risk assessment
• LOLER lift safety certificate, if applicable
• Radiography risk assessment and Local Rules document
• The additional CQC form for oral health services
CQC advises dental providers to keep the following information ready because an assessor may request it:
• Floor plan or premises layout
• Electrical installation certificate
• Emergency lighting completion certificate
• Gas Safe certificate, where applicable
• Fit and proper persons policy for directors
• Medical emergencies and resuscitation policy
• Serious incident policy
• Installation and calibration records for decontamination equipment
• Maintenance information for the amalgam separator and suction unit
• Air reprocessing or ventilation equipment records, where installed
• Pressure-vessel testing for the autoclave and compressor
I can help you identify which documents apply, review the evidence you already have and organise a clear dental registration checklist. Specialist technical reports, statutory registrations and engineering certificates must be completed or issued by appropriately competent professionals.

How I Support Your Dental Practice Registration
01
Registration Scope
We discuss the legal entity, proposed regulated activities, patient groups, treatments, locations and management structure. This helps establish what must be included in the application.
04
Dental Policies and Supporting Evidence
Depending on your package, I provide a dental-specific document checklist, review existing evidence or prepare service-specific policies. This may include infection prevention and control, safeguarding, consent, complaints, governance, incidents, recruitment and medical emergencies.
My support is tailored to the proposed dental service, rather than relying on a generic registration pack. I consider the consistency between your application, Statement of Purpose, policies, premises and proposed working arrangements.
02
Application Planning
I help you understand the provider, Registered Manager and Nominated Individual requirements that apply to your organisation. We identify the information and evidence required before drafting begins.
05
Fit-Person Interview Preparation
The proposed Registered Manager receives realistic interview preparation covering the regulations, dental governance, patient safety, infection control, radiography, medicines, complaints, incidents and oversight of the service.
03
Application and Statement of Purpose
I provide structured drafting support so the application and Statement of Purpose accurately describe the dental service, regulated activities, location and leadership arrangements.
06
Registration site visit and Readiness Review
For comprehensive packages, I review how the documents, premises, equipment and proposed systems work together. Any gaps are recorded in a clear, prioritised action plan.

Start Your Dental CQC Registration With Clear, Practical Support
Whether you are opening your first dental practice, registering a new provider or adding another location, I can help you understand the application requirements and prepare your documents, leadership arrangements and premises for CQC assessment.
CQC Consultancy provides independent professional guidance based on the information supplied by the client and the regulatory requirements in place at the time of the work. The provider, Nominated Individual and Registered Manager remain responsible for ensuring that the application is complete, accurate and reflective of how the dental service will operate.
Consultancy support does not guarantee registration and does not replace legal, financial, radiation-protection, clinical, engineering or other specialist professional advice. Technical reports, statutory registrations, equipment certification and safety assessments must be completed by appropriately competent professionals.
